About Clayton County
Established in 1837, Clayton County is a collection of 18 communities and home to over 17,000 residents. The county was named in honor of John M. Clayton, United States Senator from Delaware and later Secretary of State under President Zachary Taylor. Clayton County is administered by a three-member Board of Supervisors, who are Supervisors, who are elected for four-year terms. Other elected officials include the Attorney, Auditor, Recorder, Sheriff, and Treasurer.
