The Clayton County Veterans Affairs Office is a resource center that has been established pursuant to Chapter 35B of the Code of Iowa.

The office is committed to supporting service members, veterans, and their families. Please note that the Clayton County Veterans Affairs Office is not part of the US Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veteran Administration, and/or the State of Iowa. Therefore, the office has no influence on the granting of benefit. However, this county office provides assistance in making application for a wide range of benefits* that include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Service-connected disability compensation
  • Special monthly compensation
  • Non-service-connected pension
  • Surviving spouse pension
  • Aid and attendance/housebound
  • Military records upgrade and military records replacement
  • Application for VA HealthCare System
  • Application for admission to the Iowa Veterans Home
  • Headstones
  • All other federal programs

Clayton County Veterans Affairs also provides transportation support to Iowa City VA Medical Center and the VA Clinic in Dubuque, Iowa. Please contact our office directly for details.

The Clayton County Veterans Affairs office is nationally accredited to file federal claim for veterans and this service is provided at no cost.
