Sheriff

Sheriff Brent Ostrander was elected in November 2024 and took office on January 1, 2025. Prior to being Sheriff, Brent Ostrander served as the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigator for 16 years and held the rank of Sergeant. Sheriff Ostrander began his law enforcement career in September 2002 as a Reserve Officer with the Guttenberg Police Department and was hired full-time in December 2002. While with the Guttenberg Police Department, he became the first K-9 handler for the city. In December 2006, he was hired by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office and was assigned as one of the office’s two K-9 handlers. In January 2009, he was promoted to Criminal Investigator and received a second promotion in November 2014 to the rank of Sergeant.
