Education, Licenses, Certifications, and Training Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Experience and Preferred Qualification
- Experience with records management, real estate, or legal fields preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be proficient in computer software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and data entry.
- Ability to operate general office equipment, such as a computer, copy machine, fax machine and telephone.
- Well-organized with strong attention to detail.
- Works cooperatively with departmental staff and the public.
- Must ensure confidential handling of sensitive information.
- Able to scan, index and electronically record documents using the office’s recording system.
- Superior communication abilities for interacting with members of the public. Public relations are a major part of the county employees’ day-to-day function. As a representative of Clayton County, the position must present the ability to speak and respectfully deal with county residents.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and make abrupt changes in priorities.
- Must possess a high level of personal responsibility for completing assigned duties with little supervision or intervention by supervisory personnel.
- Must be capable of regular and predictable attendance to perform assigned tasks. Locations vary as needed.
- Must be able to count money and make accurate change.
- Must be able to speak and read the English language and write and print basic to compound sentences containing proper style, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
- Ascertain similarities and differences between words, series of numbers and related data.
- Apply common sense understanding sufficient to carry out instructions whether in written, oral, schedule or diagrammatic form.
Work Environment
- The position is in an indoor office setting and requires frequent use of office equipment such as computers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, and telephones.
- Travel outside of the county for position-related matters, such as training and meetings, will be necessary on occasion.
Physical Demands
- Position requires frequent use of fingers, hands, and close vision.
- Position requires some interaction/communication with other employees as well as department affiliates.
- Work requires the employee to sit for up to eight hours at a time and to occasionally stand, bend, reach, work at a counter, lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds, 50 pounds with assistance.
- Position may require occasional weekend, early morning, and late-night work hours. Holiday work may be required in case of emergency.
This position shall have the ability to carry out these duties and responsibilities in conformity with established policies and procedures and shall utilize time in such a way as to fulfill the objectives of this position and the County.
